Step-by-step guide

Uninstalling Office 2013

NoteBefore you can install Office 2016 via Office 365, you must first uninstall Office 2013. To uninstall Office 2013, please follow this steps in this how-to: 80022388.

Installing Office

  1. Log into Office365, click the gear icon on the top left, then go to the Office365 settings.



  2. Click Install status on the left side of the page.  Then click Install desktop applications.



  3. At the bottom of the Office install screen click Install.
  4. Microsoft Office 2016 will begin installing.  This may take some time, depending on the speed of your internet connection.


  5. Once Office 2016 has finished installing, you should restart your computer.

Installing Microsoft Visio 2013 and/or Project 2013

If, after installing Microsoft Office 2016, you also need to reinstall Microsoft Project or Visio, you will need to do so following these specific instructions.  These must be installed from a command prompt.

  1. Right-click the Windows Start button and click Command Prompt.

  2. At the command prompt type:

    The Visio installer will run and prompt when finished.

    Installing Project 2013 is the same.
