How can I tell if my computer's battery is in good condition?

Over time batteries lose their ability to maintain their full charge.  If your battery isn't lasting as long as it once did, it may be time to replace it.

Check your battery's condition

  1. On your Lenovo laptop, go to Control Panel → Lenovo Solution Center and click the System tab.

  2. In the system tab, click Battery.

This displays the battery's condition.  Batteries in good condition should be able to hold most of their full capacity.  As batteries age, they lose the ability to hold their full charge.

Replacing your battery

There are a few options for replacing your battery, depending on the battery's condition and warranty status.

If the battery is in poor condition and within its warranty, please contact the helpdesk so the battery can be replaced.

Most laptops let you switch to Airplane mode. Airplane mode disables Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and can help preserve battery power. If you don't need either of those enabled, switching to Airplane mode can make you battery last a bit longer.
