If Windows is not opening images properly, it's likely because your default picture isn't set up properly.  This guide will show you how to set your default viewer to Windows Photo Viewer

Step-by-step guide

  1. Click the Start Button then click Settings.

  2. In Settings click System

    Image Added

  3. In the list of System options, click Default apps, then click whatever is set as the Photo viewer.

  4. Now select the desired photo viewer, such as Windows Photo Viewer.

After selecting your picture new default picture viewer and exiting settings, double-clicking an image file will open it in your selected viewer.
