How to upload files and folders to Box

You have several options when uploading files and folders to box.

Step-by-step guide

Using the upload button

If you are logged into Box via the web interface, you can use the Upload button to upload a few files and folders at a time.  This is very handy if you are not using Box Drive or are uploading files and folders to a folder that is not currently synced.

  1. Navigate to the folder you'd like to upload files or folders to.
  2. In the far right of the window click the upload button and select Files or Folders.

  3. In the window that opens, select the files or folders you'd like to upload and they will be uploaded to your current folder.

Drag and drop files and folders into Box

If you want to upload a mix of files and folders, you can easily drag and drop them into the current folder in Box.

  1. Navigate to the folder you'd like to upload files and folders to.
  2. On your computer, such as on your desktop or Documents folder, select the files and/or folders you'd like to upload to Box.
  3. Drag and drop them into the folder.
  4. When you drop the files into the folder, they will begin uploading and you'll see a status bar at the bottom of the window.

Drag and Drop on a Mac

If you're using a Mac, we recommend using Safari or Chrome.  If you're using Safari, you may need to install a Java plug-in for drag and drop to work.  You won't need to install a plugin if using Chrome.

Drag and drop or save files into a locally synced folder using Box Drive

If you have Box Drive installed and have folders synced locally, you can drag and drop or save files into those locally synced folders.  The files and folders you add will be automatically synced to back to Box.  Anyone with access to that folder will see those files and folders as soon as they sync to Box.
